Happy weekend y'all. Didn't plan on posting anything today, but this tasted so good I had to share it. Today's high speed quickie is dedicated to Carly Berner of the US ARMY. She's a long time HSH fan who recently deployed. Thanks for your service Carly, be safe!
Here are the ingredients:
Half of a banana
1 tablespoon of Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter
6 oz of Organic Whole Milk
1 tablespoon of Udo's Oil 3-6-9 Blend
1 scoop of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder
1 tablespoon of Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter
6 oz of Organic Whole Milk
1 tablespoon of Udo's Oil 3-6-9 Blend
1 scoop of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder

Put it all in the Nutribullet for about 4 seconds. Yes, just 4 seconds and it's done. Total prep and clean time was about 2 minutes combined.
Should I dare call this gem a "healthy dessert"? I'm voting yes, but let me give you the full disclosure first. I define a "healthy dessert" as a reward for the hard-working physical athlete. It contains plenty of unsaturated fat and protein (which are both very important for building muscle and burning calories). My healthy desserts also contain sugar though. But it's very rarely processed sugar. It's almost always all-natural.
So if I call a dessert healthy, that doesn't mean it'll make you lose weight while couch surfing on a Sunday. You've officially been warned. =D
Here are the totals of the critical elements:
Unsaturated Fat (good): 21 grams
Saturated Fat (bad): 8 grams
Protein (good): 26 grams
Sugar (eh, we deserve it occasionally): 17 grams
Plus, 17 grams of all-natural sugar is not that bad. Some desserts these days contain upwards of 30, 40, even 50 grams of processed sugar!
Sorry to all y'all who want the totals on carbs and calories. I've never counted those. For an athlete that works out every other day, who does both cardio and strength training, I wouldn't be concerned with counting carbs and calories.
That's just the way I do it. I've never declared myself as one of the healthiest eaters in the world. I reward myself. But when I do, I'm very conscious of what I'm doing at the same time.
Feel free to post comments and/or questions!

Special Family Shout-out
My cuz Dave Shu just texted this picture to me and I had to share it. His son Micah Shu (pictured on the right) has got the Sesame Street under control (pictured on the left). Thanks to my aunt Gail and my mom Peggy, my nephew and my little cousins still play with most of our key throwback toys from when we were kids. This crucial list includes Sesame Street, Star Wars, Batman, Superman, and Hot Wheels.
It's so cool going by my nephew's house and the first thing he says is "Hey Todd, this toy used to be yours, right?!"
Take care y'all. Go Skins!
