Don't Skip Dessert.  Raise Your Sugar Standards.

Quick and Easy Dessert
How's that sound for a realistic new year's resolution?  If you're anything like me, you work hard all week physically.  Don't deny your body the reward it deserves, especially when there are healthy ways to do it.  There are even some desserts your body needs to run optimally. 

Confession time.....I eat dessert y'all.  I eat a lot of it.  Exhibit A (pictured above) is a fruit smoothie made of  strawberries, banana, blueberries, vanilla whey protein, almonds, and organic whole milk.  Don't let the Pepto Bismol pink fool ya.  It tastes GOOD.  Real good.  I made it with a Nutribullet blender/juicer.  Everybody should get one.  They retail for $100 and they're super easy to clean.  I whipped this thing up in less than 4 minutes (including cleaning time).  Keep an eye out for the HSH TV channel on YouTube coming soon.  I'll be using my Nutribullet on there to make plenty of drink options.

Fruits contain vitamins that are crucial to being healthy and fighting off illnesses.  Plus there are tons of recent studies out there that say taking vitamins in a pill form is much less effective than eating them in fruits and vegetables.  I've joined this movement and stopped taking vitamins (in a pill form) completely over the last 6 months.  I've been substituting fruits and vegetables instead.  I've noticed a drastic improvement in my health and energy levels.  I drink a smoothie just about every morning.

Exhibit B is organic, natural dark chocolate.  The higher the % of cocoa, the less sugar it contains.  For example, I usually go for the 88% or 72% cocoa bars.  They only have 10 grams of sugar total, but you won’t need the whole thing at once, far from it actually.  One bar usually lasts me 3 days.  It comes in small squares so I can divide them up easily.  Anything less than 5 grams of sugar at a time will just flush right out of your system as long as you’re hydrating properly with water.

These are very inexpensive, between $2 to $3 per bar.  You can find these on the natural foods aisle at your local grocery store or health food market.  My brand of choice is Endangered Species Chocolate.  It's approved by serious little shorties everywhere....

Last but not least, get familiar with Exhibit C, Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter.  It's all-natural and has a lot less sugar than Nutella.

I've got a few different options for Justin's, but here's my favorite.  Take some organic whole milk, add a spoonful of Justin's, then mix it all up in the Nutribullet.  The finished product is Chocolate Hazelnut Milk.  IT.  IS.  GOOD.

Thanks! I know, I didn't realize how much sugar Nutella had in it until Justin's came out. It doesn't taste nearly as sweet as Nutella, but it's enough to taste good.

I think you should post the recipes for your smoothies. I drink a Visalus nutrition smoothie for breakfast and lunch, but need some new recipes... ps. I've lost 10lbs on these nutrition packed shakes!
